Community Revitalization
The Nehemiah Initiative
Community-led Revitalization Effort
Establishing Self Sufficient People in a Healthy Community
Have you come to a place in your life where
you are saying I'm tired of seeing my community fall apart? Have you come
to a place in your life where you are crying out to the Lord for help to restore
your community?
We believe that Nehemiah began where many of us are today, he began praying
asking God to repair the walls. Pretty soon, he began asking God how he
could repair the walls, and he began seeking God's advice for plans for
repairing the walls. As he did this, God made an opportunity for Nehemiah to put
his plans in action to repair the walls and bring restoration to Jerusalem,
God desires that are land be healed. In 2 Chronicles chapter 7 verse 14,
God said:
If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked
ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal
their land. (KJV)
The purpose of The Salvage Yard is to turn our
hearts to God and to encourage the seekers to come into a deeper relationship
with the Lord. As we seek his face, listen to his voice, and obey his
commandments by turning from our wicked ways, God will forgive us and heal our
land.
As we come to the Lord, we believe he will be asking us to begin to let our
light shine and impact our communities. When Jesus' followers through out
history have made this commitment the Holy Spirit has showed up and tremendous
things have happened.
We believe this is one of those times. But it takes work and cooperation.
The other web pages in The Salvage Yard are designed to encourage a deeper walk
with the Lord, and we are anticipating that the Lord will seed visions and
passionate desires in His people to impact their communities.
In the days of Nehemiah, Nehemiah encouraged the inhabitants of Jerusalem to
work together. He linked hand in hand and helped cast a vision to restore
the walls in record time. We believe this is what the Lord is trying to do
today.
One of the purposes of The Salvage Yard is to encourage people across a
community to place their hands into those around them and to work together to
build the kingdom of God.
Won't you join us in a prayer asking God to reveal his plans and how we should
be involved to heal this nation.
