The Salvage Yard
Have you come to a place in your life where
you are saying I'm tired of seeing my community fall apart? Have you come
to a place in your life where you are crying out to the Lord for help to restore
your community?
God desires that are land be healed. In 2 Chronicles chapter 7 verse 14,
God said:
If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked
ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal
their land. (KJV)
The purpose of The Salvage Yard is to turn our
hearts to God and to encourage the seekers to come into a deeper relationship
with the Lord. As we seek his face, listen to his voice, and obey his
commandments by turning from our wicked ways, God will forgive us and heal our
land.
As we come to the Lord, we believe he will be asking us to begin to let our
light shine and impact our communities. When Jesus followers through out
history have made this commitment the Holy Spirit has showed up and tremendous
things have happened.
We believe this is one of those times. But it takes work and cooperation.
The other web pages in The Salvage Yard are designed to encourage a deeper walk
with the Lord, and we are anticipating that the Lord will seed visions and
passionate desires in His People to impact their communities.
In the days of Nehemiah, Nehemiah encouraged the inhabitants of Jerusalem to
work together. He linked hand in hand and helped cast a vision to restore
the walls in record time. We believe this is what the Lord is trying to do
today.
One of the purposes of The Salvage Yard is to encourage people across a
community to place their hands into those around them and to work together to
build the kingdom of God.
We will be setting up profiles and require people to Login, so that we can
establish electronic communities of seekers at The Salvage Yard who live close
together. We will also be establishing tools and aids for ministries that God
raises up to revitalize our communities.
To facilitate what we believe God is doing we will be developing web sites to
help existing and evolving ministries to become more effective. The first three
capabilities are:
Community Revitalization Directory of Services
We recognize that everyone can not be everything for all people. God has
given us each gifts. By acknowledging and valuing the role God intended
each of us to play we will be honoring one another and honoring what the Lord is
doing in each of us. The
Community Revitalization Directory of Services will be a directory that
individual organizations or communities can build that provide a directory of
services available in the community. People with an interest in helping
others in the community will be able to look up what services are available to
help friends, people in their bible studies, in their Church or Synagogue, or
people in their community.
Community
Revitalization Client Registry
One of the difficulties of providing
assistance to those in need is that some people take advantage of the system
going from one benevolent organization to another. These people need to
have their needs provided for but also need to be encouraged to take steps to
grow and become self sufficient. At The Salvage Yard we are considering
establishing a Client Registry that would allow a benevolent organization to
register the recipient. The registration would be required before the
recipient would receive assistance. The information in the registry would
be held in confidence, but if someone were trying to approach multiple
organizations for the same thing, the system would notify the benevolent
organization. Or if the potential recipient had a history of seeking
assistance, the benevolent organization can work with that person to help them
seek assistance so that they can become self sufficient. Note: We
understand that there are a number of privacy concerns, etc that will need to be
overcome. Before developing this capability, we would like to first talk
to a number of communities to determine first if the tool would be useful, would
the tool be used, and what are the concerns and desires of those who might use
this tool.
Community Revitalization Best Practices
Across the country a number of folks have accomplished great things for God.
Many of these ministries remain relatively unknown. The Christian
community needs to leverage these successes and use as models for developing
successful programs in other communities. The purpose of this section of
The Salvage Yard is to celebrate those successes and to document them so that
others can learn, grow and apply these successes in their own ministries.
Community Revitalization Funding Initiatives
God has said that as we
"humble ourselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their
land." God has the funding available for his people to do his work.
What he needs is for those people to step forward and to work together.
The funding to do kingdom work will be available to those who step forward to
help God heal our land. This segment of our web pages will be dedicated to
identifying possible funding sources and for helping ministries to acquire the
funding to fulfill the visions God has placed in their hearts. This
segment of our web pages will also either provide instruction on sound financial
practices or will have links to web sites that provide this information for
ministries.
