That We May All Be
One
In John 17:21-23, Jesus prayed to his heavenly Father:
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they
also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And
the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as
we are one:I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and
that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou
hast loved me. (KJV)
On his way to the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus heartfelt
prayer was that the church would be as one.
Jesus even went so far as to say church unity would be an indication to
the world that GOD SENT JESUS.
We believe that one of the reasons the Church is not having
a great impact on the world today is because of the lack of unity Christ prayed
for.
Frankly, we are of the opinion that it is impossible in
God’s world for each one of us to seek him independently.
That is not God’s way. We believe that there is a special dynamic in
the kingdom of God that results from unity.
God values unity greatly. It wasn’t until the entire body was of one
accord that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost.
We have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to seek God and find
him as God would have us find him without unity across the body of Christ.
For this reason, we have concluded that
we NEED YOU!!!
We cannot fulfill the mission Christ has given us without
YOU. YOU are critical to our
success. Towards that end, The
Salvage Yard has made a decision to begin encouraging the body of Christ to come
together. We are building internet based tools to help bridge the gaps between the denominations, the
races and the economic classes.

When Peter use to fish for
fish he fished for fish with a net.
When
Jesus called Peter to fish for men, Peter also used a net. However this net was
not made of ropes and string but out of the relationships between the members of
a church and between churches. For
you see a net which has not been tied and knitted together properly, with the
proper spaces between each knot, will have holes and fish will slip through.
Just as a net with holes will not catch fish. The church without
relationships to catch the fish in will not hold the harvest.
Extending the analogy further, assume each knot represents a church and
the strings between the knots represents the relationships between the churches. Without the strings between the knots of the net, it will be
impossible to catch fish. And just
as with the net, if the relationships between the churches do not exist, it is
impossible to catch a harvest.
Our hope is that you will join us; we need your help; that you pray with us
that God will build these relationships. It
is our heartfelt desire that we would see Jesus prayer fulfilled.
As God leads us forward, we hope to be providing
tools to help assist believers across a community to come together in support of
one another. For we believe that
your success is more important to us than our own, because if you fail we
automatically fail.
Would you please join us in this prayer:
Father we have failed to work together. We have
disappointed your Son. His cry has been lost, his prayer ignored. We have
neglected to embrace the Unity that your heart cries out for. Lord do what
you have to. Let us not proceed forward one step if we do not begin to embrace
the unity you desire. We will have failed our generation and those after
us if we neglect to see the unity you require. We can not seek biblical
unity without your help. Lord we ask you for your assistance to bring us
supernaturally together. Melt our hearts. Teach us your ways that we
might come to value the diversity and gifts you have placed in others.
In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen.
